ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A precautionary boil water notice for Pinellas County's southern barrier islands from John’s Pass to Tierra Verde has been lifted.

The announcement on Monday afternoon came hours after the City of St. Petersburg lifted its boil water notice for St. Pete, Lealman and South Pasadena.

The alerts were put in place during Hurricane Milton after water systems were damaged during the storm, leading to days of repair work.

While water has been deemed safe for all usage again, the Florida Department of Health suggests running each tap for at least five minutes – along with flushing equipment like drinking fountains and ice makers – to ensure water quality.

The City of Gulfport remains under a boil water notice as of Monday afternoon.
