T.I. retiring from performing: ‘I don’t want to do it'

For T.I., it’s not About the Money.

The 44-year-old recently shared a decision about no longer wanting to perform live while visiting 96.1 the Beat’s afternoon show on Thursday.

T.I. and Young Dro sat down with the radio hosts and spoke about the station’s Jingle Ball holiday concert in Atlanta on Dec. 19, where the rapper is set to headline the gig.

“I appreciate y’all for offering me my last working gig because I do not need the money anymore and I will not be performing,” T.I. revealed. “I don’t want to do it anymore … I don’t want people to pay me to hop around and sweat for their entertainment anymore.”

Young Dro teased he would be taking over the concerts that the “Bugatti” artist doesn’t want.

“I will be picking up all of Tip’s shows that he ain’t going to. Doing them all,” the 45-year-old said.

Host Ferrari Simmons asked T.I. if he was going to “do” something for another upcoming gig. The Atlanta performer replied: “Of course, I’m going to answer the phone to tell them that I will not be performing.”

The news comes a month after T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, won a lawsuit against MGA Entertainment. The couple, who have been married since 2010, claimed the company violated the intellectual property rights of their music group, the OMG Girlz, with the company’s L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls.

The Xscape singer, 49, took to social media to share her relief after the years-long court battle, which started in 2020 and ended in a $71 million victory.

“We did this for the city. We did this for the culture,” Tiny said during an Instagram Live video outside of a Santa Ana, Calif., federal courthouse. “It was a fight. It was a hell of a fight. We couldn’t be more happy.”

And retiring from rapping might not be too far off in T.I.’s future. Last October, the actor was asked on the “We In Miami Podcast” what fans can expect from him. T.I. replied that he’s planning to release a double album titled “Kill the King” and “Kiss the King,” which will be his final album.

One of the first singles on the album will be a song with NBA YoungBoy. The track called “LLOGCLAY” dropped earlier this year in May.

T.I. started his musical journey in 2001 with his debut album, “I’m Serious.” He then rose to fame with his second album, “Trap Muzik,” which earned him a Grammy nomination.
